Hi Tommy. I like the composition and mood of your drawing. People tell me that the head hunting is more of a habit for Slaine than Conan of course...and I agree. Nevertheless I love having Conan cutting heads and I am never gonna stop doing that. If you have not read Slaine you should go out and buy the Horned God by Simon Bisley NOW ! This book influenced me a lot in developing my style and it is the greatest traditionally done piece of comic art in the History of the world. I do not know if you have done any life drawing, but I think if you are really interesting in pursuing a career as a comic artist, to start drawing from life. Your anatomy needs some work, and from my experience, you can not "imagine" anatomy and the human form in perspective unless you are Leonado DaVinci. The best thing is to have a nude (in order to see all the muscles and bones) model (I understand that you are an adult from your profile) and maybe have someone to give you some tips in order to "loosen" your arm regarding your lines. I did life drawing for many years in London, and trust me, it is an amazing experience !
I think itīs the style, especially the longer torso, and the clothing has a celtic look to it. Plus Slaine was more of a head collector then Conan Donīt get me wrong itīs brilliant and would pass as Conan as well any day.
I am a big Slaine fun too so I would not mind doing Slaine instead...I would do Slaine with the other hair style though and not with his hair down. The clothes are inspired by Spartacus to be honest. I love the costumes in that series !!!
